THx todd! Wow did the ducks look completely disinterested! Especially Gibson. Even there’s coach. I would be pissed for I was the owner who pays these guys millions! At least try! Looked like they were out there’s just a paycheque good for the flames I guess. On jankoski I have been on his side all year sure he started out terrible, he is to young to give up on and there is talent their. Tall lanky defensive centres don’t come along often I would definitely a keep him |

I think every Flames fan is sick of Johnny getting breakaways and doing the same damn thing. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."[/img] |

The break away blown 5-hole attempt may soon be known as the "Johnny Hockey". |

I’m no fan of the leafs or Matthews for that matter but I remember at the all star game him talking about how goalies wouldn’t even bother going down because they knew he was going top shelf. He said he had to adjust and mix it up. Why a player as talented and creative as gaudreau hasn’t recognized that he stands in a similar situation and do something even a little different is beyond me. The league is too talented to be a predictable player and expect great results. |

Probably draisaitl, the top 4 were considered a cut above rest, Ekblad a unanimous number 1. Considering the next 3 picks were dal colle, Virtanen and fluery I still say we made out alright. I will always wonder though considering Bennett was injured most of his D+1 season if we had sent him back down for D+2 if he would have had more success |

Blame the Oilers for that one. They were the only ones that had Draisaitl ranked above Bennett. |

Yeah hindsight always is 20/20. The real problem is the stupid agreement with the CHL where a player like Bennett wasnt eligible for the AHL. Bennetts rookie year wasnt bad so by the time we figured out that he needed some more development in minors he would have had to clear waivers which would never happen. |

That's what I think as well but taking away current NHL career success, if that was actually the next guy on the radar for Flames staff |

I would hope so. I remember going in that Ekblad was going number 1 and the likelihood was Reinhardt going 2, I think the majority had Bennett ranked ahead of draisaitl but It was known that Edmonton wanted a big Center. Dal colle was considered a tier below those 4 but a tier slightly above the rest of the field leaving him pretty much a lock at 5. Anyone else in the top 4 would have been considered going off the board. The most talented player after Bennett turned out to be Nylander at 8 which if he would have panned out the same (no guarantee with different team) would have made Calgary look like geniuses but people would probably lose their minds at the time considering he was not considered top 5 talent. I guess in 2018 kotkaneimi and Hayton went top 5 when no one expected it so crazier things have happened. |

That’s a very polite way to say that he sucks. Which he does.
Probably tops out as a 5-15-20 point bottom six winger. |

Looking at hockeydb it looks like he broke out in his draft year than never really progressed in the OHL after that. First ahl year looked decent followed by regress in his second year and bounced back at a point per game pace in his 3rd year. This year he has stayed on with the Islanders full time with 10 points in 42 games and currently slotted on the third line. He is 23 and only in his 1st nhl season so he could develop further into a top six player. I would say how he does next year will give us a better look for his career trajectory. |

Thanks RedC21, for the info. I remember some people on TSN and Sportsnet were saying the Flames should've drafted him but Bennett has proven to be an NHL'er even though its frustrating to watch him at times

So glad Edmonton took pooparty, and Vancouver took Joe Levy, leaving Chucky for us.
Works both ways when evaluating 18 year olds.
Bennett is what he is a useful bottom 6.
Would still like to see him get an extended look ( not 1 game) with Tkachuk, feel it should be tried before he becomes a throw in in a trade. |

Valimaki skating at practice. One of Hamonic or Brodie needs to get traded for assets. Bring in martinez and Toffoli from LA hopefully for a couple picks and a prospect.
Gio-Brodie/Hamonic
Hanifin-Rass
Vali/Kylington/Martinez
Looks good to me. Hopefully we can get a 1st for one of Brodie or Hammer and Vali is back for playoffs. Hoping Gio is back by or shortly after the trade deadline. Martinez has another year left on his deal I believe.
Use that extra 1st to move up in the draft if we get bumped 1st round? Solid top ten this year.
Okay now b!tch away Hunk! |
